YOUTUBE TV | MOON LAUNCHERS
AGENCY: Hook
OVERVIEW: The 2019 World Series also coincided with the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Youtube TV celebrated these historic live TV moments in their spot. We knew we had to do something historic as well on social.
So we announced that YouTube TV would put the first baseball team on the moon. We created everything from team uniforms to stadium renders and kept fans up to date on our progress. We even sent fans team caps and shirts.
Moon Launchers brought in the most engagement for a YouTube TV social campaign. Must’ve been all the space puns!
We announced the team name and logo. If you look real close in the video you can see a Millennium Falcon in hyperspace.
We designed team uniforms and cloned a baseball player to model said uniforms.
If you’re going to watch a game in space you need a baseball cap to fit over your space helmet.
We had fun working with concept artists to bring a render of our galactic baseball stadium to life. Check out the moon roof with a great view of Earth and plenty of parking for your spaceship.
Every baseball team needs a mascot. We had fans on Twitter help us create the Moon Launchers team mascot. The Internet chose my favorite, Moon Landon.
Here are some of the tweets we created during the campaign. We asked brands to join us and become official sponsors of our moon team, had some fun with fans, and even asked Major League Baseball what league we would play in.
We created a spacey version of ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game.’ We shot this in our conference room. You can’t tell but I’m one of two people in a green screen onesie, holding the keyboard and moving it around like it’s floating in space. Still trying to figure out how to describe this highlight on my resume.
We surprised fans who engaged with us on Twitter with team kits featuring a Moon Launchers cap, shirt, and pin.
Some reactions from Twitter including some choice words directed at the Moon.
